On Friday the 19th of February, the Gulf Room upstairs at the Walkabout Lodge played host to an evening of guitar mastery from Francis Diatschenko.
For almost an hour and a half Francis mesmerised and captivated all who attended. He conducted his instrumental sermon astride a small stage riser, and albeit a modest mount, the delivery was monumentous.
A punter summed it up more succinctly than myself when she stated, How can it happen? 6 strings, 2 hands, yet it was akin to an entire string section, full percussion and a tiny bit of brass hiding there somewhere? It made her heart sing.
Francis is an esteemed gentleman who is unassuming, charming, and graced with a cruise ship certified level of humour, he engages, and is in turn, simply engaging.
The wealth of warmth and appreciation for Francis post gig was very heartening to see and will hopefully go a long way to securing more refined maestros of music to grace our tiny orbit.
I write stuff down when I can find a spare moment, I try not to work too hard.
